Re: What are you most excited to give your kids this ...

This holiday season, I am most excited to give my children love! I have 2 children: 2 1/2 and 6 months. The greatest gift my husband of 6 years (we have been together for 12) and I have given each of them is the gift of family. The two brothers adore each other and love each other so much. We could not be more happy! My husband and I have had the most trying year this past year...it just seemed like things just couldn't get worse and they kept getting worse! This year has taught us that we can endure anything! With God's mighty grace and love, we are happy to have made it through 2009.  My toddler has become a huge fan of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse in the last few months and we would be so excited to see the joy in his eyes if he gets to go see Mickey and his friends! May everyone's Christmas be just oh so toodles!!!!!!!!!  KissMyha Nguyen from Frisco, TX

This Christmas will be very different for my family.  My mother (Granny) passed away in April.  She always loved family gatherings and Christmas was her favorite.  She never wanted gifts for herself....but always had a way of making things wonderful for the kids and grandkids.  She would host a family party on Christmas Eve and fix everyone's favorite party foods....filled stockings for everyone....even when we showed up with guests!....and gifts for all.  She never had much money....the cost of the gift was not important....but the happiness and love in the house was so magical.

My gift to my children will be joy and love this Christmas and a wonderful family gathering remembering the past traditions as we start new ones.  Life is so short....may our memories be sweet.

Actually my girls already got what I was most looking forward to which was a trip to Disney World.  We went over Thanksgiving and they had so much fun.  What I am most looking forward to now is just finishing decorating with them, making cookies and enjoying the break.

We wil be spening more than two together and will get to go out and do some quality things together. I have lots of fun little day adventures planned to enjoy and soak in the holiday season. I can't wait to give my 5 and 3 year old boys the Wii that they have been pretending to play on for 6 months now! They really have been wanting a Wii but I couldn't afford it (thanks to Toys R Us layaway). They would go up to the television and act like they are playing bowling and boxing on the Wii. So I know when they open up this particular present from mom and dad, they will be truely excited!Smile

What I am most excited to give my little girl this year for Christmas is the Play -Doh set she has been wanting. She's loves to play with the doh and has been wanting a set where she can make play food and roll some doh up and make some cookies, lol. She gets so excited and really into it when she has some.

The Break List. At the beginning of each school break we make a huge list as a family of all the things we want to do. I use a big piece of drawing paper with fun-colored markers. It hangs over the family calendar, right across from the kitchen table, so we each see it every day. This year I suspect it'll have things like "Drive around & see Christmas lights at least 10 times" and "Help Daddy install the new bathroom faucet" (a huge treat for my young boys).  I'll add things like "Deliver cookies to the neighbor" and "Make cookies for Santa." My husband might add "Make pancakes for breakfast AND dinner" or "Play Hide & Go Seek".  It's not that we're slaves to the list...it won't all get done. But it helps us make the most of the special holiday time we'll have together, and everyone in the family feels heard & respected when they get to add things.  It really heightens the excitment of being together at home over the holidays.

The holiday season always brings such joy and excitement into our home. I am most excited to give and share with my kids the value of family. Of course they love opening presents and I love seeing their smiling faces. But, I am excited this year to teach them to thank everyone and give a hug and kiss to everyone in the family. Family is so important and I would lilke to share that value with them as they grow up.

(When I first posted this, I hadn't signed-in before-hand, so I did it again. Hopefully it doesn't show up twice.)
